Spanish Language Immersion with CPI

Study Spanish while exploring the rainforest, river and community of the Sarapiqui.

Working together with CPI language school, Selva Verde now hosts a Spanish language program, complete with lodging and meals, hammocks to relax in, and trails to explore.

Founded in 1991, CPI offers premier conversational language instruction to students of all ages and skill levels. CPI employs an experienced, university-educated language staff, and maintains partnerships with a number of Universities from the United States as well as el Instituto Cervantes de España.

Class sizes are small, with a maximum of six students, allowing one-on-one interaction between student and instructor. No matter their skill level, students begin conversing from day one. Classes are communication-based, supplemented with a strong foundation in fundamental language mechanics. Students learn through direct interaction with the instructor, engaging in active language exercises that make the learning process exciting and new each day!

CPI courses at Selva Verde are available year-round, with new sessions beginning each week. The courses are designed for students of any skill level, and can be taken from one to several weeks in length. Participation is open to individuals, groups, and families. Studying with CPI at Selva Verde is a truly enriching experience, placing students in an environment that enhances the learning process with cultural immersion in a rural community and a relaxing natural setting in the tropical rainforest. Classes are held 4 hours a day, leaving plenty of time for study, practice, exploration, and relaxation. Students will have ample opportunity to learn about the flora and fauna of the rainforest, as well as the natural and cultural history of the Sarapiqui region while beginning or sharpening their Spanish language skills.

Program Schedule

Students should arrive at Selva Verde on Monday morning at 10:00am for check in and to take a placement test. Classes will begin at 1:00pm and last until 5:00pm every day (Mon-Fri). Morning and evening optional activities can be arranged prior to arrival or at the reception desk. Check out will be after breakfast on Saturday by 12:00pm.

Optional Activities

While studying at Selva Verde, students may enjoy a variety of optional activities (at additional cost): including guided hikes in the rainforest, whitewater rafting, canopy ziplining, kayaking, agricultural tours, wildlife tours, and participation with the community in activities held at the Sarapiqui Conservation Learning Center. Active engagement with staff and community members is a tremendous aid in practical progress while studying, as well as an opportunity to make new friends.

This program offers exceptional instruction with CPI staff and comfortable lodging, rainforest discovery, and outdoor recreation in a private 500 acre reserve at Selva Verde. Make your learning experience an adventure with CPI and Selva Verde!
