Please note that due to road repair, the highway from San José to Sarapiquí via Braulio Carillo is only open from 6am – 3pm. The alternative route to Sarapiquí from San José is via San Carlos and the drive time is roughly 3 ½ hours.
It is unclear how long this work on the highway will last, but it is possible it will take several more weeks. Luckily, it will lead to a safe Braulio Carillo so we are happy that it is being repaired.
For most transfers to and from Selva Verde Lodge and the airport, we are able to utilize the Selva Verde Lodge vehicle. We will gladly absorb the extra costs in fuel and drive time if we are able to use our vehicle. However, at times, we engage outside transportation as our vehicle is already reserved. In those cases, outside vendors are charging a surcharge for this longer transfer.
Should we be required to engage an outside vendor for your transfer and your transfer time does not allow you to travel during the open hours of the Braulio highway, Selva Verde Lodge we will require a $35 surcharge per transfer which should be paid directly to Selva Verde Lodge.
